FROGS help with prospecting

* For anyone who hasn't come across the

‘FROGS’
acronym

to help with prospecting, here's how it works …

Many newcomers to direct sales panic that they barely know anyone. This is a great way to reassure them that they may know lots more people than they think, but even if they don't - they can 'leapfrog' their way to lots of contacts!

Step One: Coach them through the people they know, using the 'FROGS' acronym as your prompt. Make sure they are aware not to miss anyone out - EVERYONE is important...

F: Friends - a list of their friends, including those they may have lost touch with. A Christmas Card list or address book are great places to start for this as well as for...

R: Relatives - a list of all their relatives

O: Occupation - a list of all the people they work with, and have worked with in the past and a list of people they know because of their occupations e.g. their postman, avon lady, chiropodist, hairdresser and so on...

G: Geographical - a list of all their current neighbours and  those from previous areas they may have lived in and people who they see in their area who may not have been thought of through their occupations e.g. fellow dog walkers, school run parents etc

S: Social - a list of people they know socially e.g. from Sports Clubs, Residents Group, Amateur Dramatics etc past and present

Meaningful card messages

Step Two: Take the first person on their list e.g. their friend 'Helen'. Put Helen through this same 'FROGS' process i.e. list Helen’s friends, relatives, people she’s known through occupations etc.

Step Three: Have them repeat the exercise with everyone on their original list compiled in ‘step one’.

Step Four: It will soon be very evident just how many contacts they have either just one or two steps away - and how just a few people can lead to many, many customers. The FROGS exercise can be repeated to several layers deep with some of their contacts. This will lead you to the conversation that people we do know, will lead us to people we DON'T yet know... and then on to people even THEY don't know! That's the beauty of leapfrogging your contacts!

" There is no effect more disproportionate to its cause than the happiness bestowed by a small compliment. "
Robert Brault

Meaningful card messages

Remind yourself to send out motivating mini cards and gifts regularly and spontaneously by storing them in a suitable box  -
a clear or see-through one works best - right on your desk, or anywhere you’ll see them often, and can access them quickly
and easily

"Motivation is like food for the brain. You cannot get enough in one sitting. It needs continual and regular top ups"
Jim Stovall

Keep a brief note

Keep a brief note of which mini card and mini gift you've sent to who, and make it easy on yourself to avoid duplication.

"Note how good you feel after you have encouraged someone else. No other argument is necessary to suggest that never miss the opportunity to give encouragement."
George Adams
